Making It Mine

Lucky for me, this song came up on my iPod at the gym this morning.  Typically, the music I listen to while working out is not this mellow, so I’m convinced that this was not serendipity – I needed to hear it.  There is little that moves me like music – and those who know me recognize that this has been my ‘go to’ since I was a child.  It can drive my mood, steer my thoughts, set my course for the day (far better than any GPS).

In my office at the firm, there was always something playing in the background.  People would come in just to hear what genre was moving my moments.  And there is really nothing I don’t like, which makes picking favorites difficult – although I do have certain people and bands that get a heavier rotation than others.

Something about the words to this song, the visual of hanging out at the ‘gratitude cafe’…hearing angels sing a chorus that’s just exuberant.  My only wish is that I posted this earlier this morning, with the hope that you heard this as part of your day’s beginning.  That it made you feel good.  My plan?  To make sure I make this day mine.  Let me know what you think…

  1. Beautiful song. I was sort of hoping it was Opus 17 by The Four Seasons (you introduced me to that one eons ago and to this day, while I need no additional provocation/visual or auditory reminders, when I hear that song, my head is filled with visions of two pre-adolescent girls “rocking out” and giggling. Brightens my day every time. Now, I have Jason Mraz to thank for another reason to think of you and smile. Happy Monday!

    1. Welcome home sweetie! I hope you had a great vacation…I too think of you whenever I hear Opus 17 (and have it on my iPod too)..:-) There is just something about this song that can get my out of my own head when I’m heading in a direction I’d rather not go…Have a wonderful day!! xoxo

  2. I have the exact same relationship with music mim..it is the emotional equivalent of my soul. I love Jason Mraz, and he’s a regular on my hit parade. 1. Why does that not surprise me? 🙂 Can I tell you how excited I am about this video-ability?? I could go crazy with this – and probably will since that’s how I roll…I’ve gotta put up that KoKo London song. We can rock out to that tomorrow!! Love, me

  3. This was my ringtone one time – the only time in my life I ever had a song as a ring tone. But I loved the message and I love Jason Mraz. Have you listened to his new album? It has the best messages. I am going to see him Sept. 5th and can’t wait! “Leap and the net will appear.”

  4. I love any song with “Leap and the net will appear!” I didn’t know this one. Great song. I am completely influenced by music as well. I lived in Austin, TX for four years and went to see live music several times a week, usually by myself. I miss that – I need to get back to doing more of that. Thanks for the uplifting song and commentary!
