Ok my friends, it’s time..today is the perfect day to consider what you would do if you weren’t so darn comfortable in your comfort zone. I know there are some who challenge us to do one thing each day that makes us uncomfortable, to test the shackles in which we have secured ourselves. I don’t know about you, but that makes me too anxious and overwhelmed, the thought exposes my insecurity before I even begin. So how about this – one new effort per week. What are you going to do to touch where the magic happens? The allure alone is an incentive; is it strong enough to entice you to re-evaluate your choices? Can you feel the exhilaration and fear that accompanies the first steps in a new direction? Can you imagine how freeing it will be to just try one thing you’ve never done before? Whether it is at work – with your employees and colleagues, or the care and attention you give yourself, or the upending of a routine that has gotten tired – it can be anything that moves you closer to the magic of being in your life. So tell me, what are you going to do? I can’t wait to hear…
I LOVE my comfort zone. Love, love, love it. I won’t leave!
Oh, David – I might buy a freezer from you even if I lived in the North Pole, but I don’t buy this!! 🙂
Believe it Pal.
I can’t – there’s too much about your posts that are reflective of someone else. And if it were so, you’d be like the Wizard in the movie – the man behind the curtain who everyone thought was really someone else. I think you push your limits all the time – and as such, are routinely circling where your magic happens. So there. 🙂
You ARE my super ego booster. Ever play “Opposite Day” with your kids? That’s what you have here. I FEED it because I NEED it! And you should see what my former colleagues and current friends say about my posts – “Who is this guy?” 🙂
Well, in many ways that reinforces my position..Regardless of the motivation, whether you feed it cause you need it – or vice versa, you’re STILL being provocative, you’re STILL being creative and you’re absolutely putting yourself out there. That’s not comfort zone behavior – and the mere fact that those who know you wonder “who is this guy” – rests my case. Face it, you’ve been out in the magic-sphere all this time. Have a great day! 🙂
OK, I have to give you this one. On point.
Sorry, I am very behind in my reading. I am willing to break out of my comfort zone, but I am not sure how yet. I will ponder it though. Great post, great challenge.
Thanks! Song of the moment – “Ch..ch.ch…changes” – David Bowie…:-)
I think I may have accidentally reached out to that place where the magic happens yesterday during a PTO meeting. They need a new person to head up a rather large fund-raiser event next year; I opened my mouth to inquire a bit more about what it entails and suddenly I kinda ended up offering to take it on. Sigh, I prefer to be just a bit out of sight, a wallflower of sorts. We shall see what happens. 🙂
Your writing is so dynamic, my hunch is that you’re going to rock the fundraiser!! Let me know what happens! 🙂
This is a timely post as I am doing something tonight that is way outside my comfort zone! It is good to do, but gives me butterflys! I am going to a school board meeting where some things are being decided regrading grade combining in order to save money – many parents have been asked to come and speak their opinions. I have never loved getting up and giving my opinion in that forum…but I am going! yikes.
Good for you!! You’ll be great – good luck!
Seriously, where does the magic happens?? I am still in search of it 🙂
I just joined a group of women entrepreneurs. We’re going to help–and push–each other to reach our weekly goals.
What a great idea!!
Passing on an award to you….http://makebelieveboutique.com/2012/05/16/new-awards/ ….thanks…..
Thank you so much!!
