More Chairs At The Round Table

Well the Sirs have their cousins visiting for the next few weeks.  We had a meeting the other day to talk about how they were to host their guests..As you can see, they were being quite attentive, if not revealing their enthusiasm about expanding the neighborhood reach that two new members may afford.  It was early.

Part of the Knights’ code involves graciousness and impeccable manners to all who enter their kingdom.  The arrival of Sirs Harpo and Otis of Manhattan, NY proved no exception.  There was a lot of “Hail fellow, well met”, sniffing of armor (so to speak) and conversation about news from the North.  Harpo is the most venerated of the Sirs, lively yet weary of child-like folly at the age of fourteen.  Otis on the other hand is eight going on two.  With no disrespect intended, this is not a gathering of the canine equivalent of Mensa.  But each is of grand heart and cheer, so all else can be forgiven.  After all, there are few national security issues taking place here, and most certainly no lands left to conquer (although Maid Molly the Golden Retriever next door  is definitely our equivalent to Lady Guinevere).  And she’s an equal opportunity flirt, though her heart is clearly devoted to Sir Theodore.  Unfortunately, Molly is quite big; Teddy is quite small – and they have yet to figure out how to slide each other their phone numbers.

So…meet Sirs Otis and Harpo..Being our city cousins, adjusting to life in the suburbs is a little bit of a challenge.  But my hunch is that within the next few days, this will be a posse to contend with – and hopefully good buddies.

  1. Sirs Harpo and Otis are most grateful for their presence at the Southern Sirs’s Round Table. And who, pray, is the non-canine Sir in the far edge of the photo?

  2. I am sure they are excited about having the cousins visit but you know what dogs are like they only show their excitment when they know it will embarress you……………..lol

  3. Ahhh, visitors to the Kingdom, how lovely! The city cousins are quite handsome and I daresay they are surveying their new domain with no small amount of panache. Looks to me like Harpo and Otis are going to “go country” without so much as a hitch in their getalongs, as they say back home. Have fun! Xoxo, l

    1. So far the only hitch in their getalongs involved me not hurrying them to getalong fast enough not to leave a little accident upstairs. But it’s all in the name of learning their rhythms and them learning that life in the country has its schedules too…xoxo, m

      1. Laughing….ah yes, there are bound to be a few speed bumps. Lola Bug *NEVER* has accidents and the last time we visited friends, she marched into the house and up the stairs and proceeded to do her business on the landing. What the ?#! I’m sure you guys will all find your groove in no time… 😉 xoxo

      2. I hope so..though this morning’s rain isn’t helping..We spent way too much time in the garage debating the value of venturing forth to attend to business. Finally, the call of the wild prevailed. 🙂 xoox

  4. Welcome to the Sirs from the north. How fortunate for all of you there is always a tremendous welcome mat and megadoses of love in the castle. I’m sure they will adjust to their temporary domicile and make it their home. How great for the 4 legged cousins to bond. Home is where the heart is – lucky guys.

    1. Wish their adopted aunt was here too…it’s time for Aunt Jo to get a puppy (almost time – as soon as everything is back to normal back home)…xoxo

    1. They are very regal visitors and carry themselves as the royalty they are!!! And as I write them, all the knights are fast asleep which is very sweet to watch..

  5. I love this! All the romance of Camelot, with the swash-buckling adventures of the Knights. Your Sirs are very grand indeed! I hope the cousins bring news of storm recovery up North.

P.S. I was laughing so hard Dan asked me to read the post to him. He is now referring to me as his Lady in Waiting.

    1. I think it only right that a touch of royalty permeate your “three’s company” home Jill. Lady Jill has a nice ring to it (you’re too young to be a Baroness and not dowdy enough), we’re too old to be referred to as “Princess”…hmm….Dan could call you “My Queen”…:-)

  6. My sweet babies are sisters from different litters and they love it when the older ones sister (who my son owns) and my daughters pup all come over to play. We have such great pictures of all of them playing and also wearing party hats and costumes. What we humans will do for a laugh. Thank goodness our fur babies love us enough to put up with such silliness 🙂

    1. When the boys bring their dogs over it’s going to get pretty crazy – six dogs will almost outnumber the humans! But it is fun to watch them play. I’ve never dressed up the dogs – but for a sweater on Ted when it’s cold out..Those pictures must be hysterical!

      1. We have so much fun, not quite as much fun as we did when watching all of our little kids playing, but almost! Not sure when I will get real grandchildren so I am enjoying my furry ones to the max 🙂

  7. OMG are you kidding me? The two of them sitting there at the table, tell me they do this every morning!! They do look like royalty 🙂 Loved reading this and getting a glimpse of your day-to-day for the next several weeks, my Dog Whisperer friend gives me such a smile! xoxo

    1. Yeah they do…although usually they each take a chair..Teddy sits with me, Archie takes the other chair..then they switch and I share the seat with the big guy…xoxo
